Ground Truth: Giving Visitors Hope through Projects, People, + Partnership

Behind Cabrillo National Monument’s stunning coastal landscape is a dedicated team working to better understand, protect, and restore its unique natural environment.

In our short video Ground Truth, go behind the scenes with Science Technician Patricia Simpson and park biologist Taro Katayama to discover the science, research, and care that go into protecting Cabrillo’s coastal ecosystem.

From studying the role of fog in the park’s unique microclimate to collecting locally adapted seeds and growing more than 1,800 native plants each year, their work combines scientific research with hands-on habitat restoration to help preserve Cabrillo’s biodiversity for future generations.

This important work is supported by Cabrillo National Monument Foundation. Want to support science and habitat restoration at Cabrillo? Make a donation or become a member here.
