CABRILLO STORE
It all began here.
In 1956, Cabrillo Historical Association was established. Volunteers ran the Cabrillo Store which started as a small shop inside the Old Point Loma Lighthouse selling books and postcards.
In 1970, Cabrillo Historical Association became Cabrillo National Monument Foundation, and since, we operate the Cabrillo Store inside the Cabrillo National Monument Visitor Center serving the park’s nearly 1 million visitors per year.
About the Cabrillo Store
Cabrillo National Monument Foundation has a National Park Service designation as a Cooperating Association. This means we work alongside the National Park Service to fund their education, interpretation, and visitor programs that help people connect with Cabrillo’s rich history, natural resources, and cultural significance.
A key part of our role is providing educational and interpretive materials that enrich the visitor experience. We accomplish this through the Cabrillo Store.
A portion of Cabrillo Store sales are reinvested in Cabrillo National Monument such as their exhibits, educational programs, conservation projects, visitor services, and other initiatives that enhance and protect these amazing lands.
What we sell and why
We work carefully with National Park Service staff to select products that reflect the stories, resources, and mission of the park, including:
Books and field guides on Cabrillo, maritime history, local wildlife, ecology, and conservation
Educational publications, maps, and historical resources
Junior Ranger and youth education materials
Nature and science learning tools
Interpretive souvenirs and replicas
Educational toys, games, and hands-on learning activities
Artwork, photography, and commemorative items inspired by the Monument's natural and cultural heritage
