Migratory Bird Festival

May 11, 2013 Saturday

The  rangers and volunteers will have a Migratory Bird Festival from 10-4 on Saturday, May 11.  Learn more about the birds such as the red-tailed hawk and brown pelicans that migrate through Cabrillo.  Using a pair of binoculars may help you to spot and observe our aviary visitors.

There will be tables with information available at the Visitor Center Complex.

Memorial Day weekend -WWII remembered 

May 25-27, 2013 Saturday-Monday

Living history actors in period attire will be remembering what life was like during World War II at Fort Rosecrans [Cabrillo National Monument sits inside the Fort's borders].  Interpreting will take place from 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday (May 25 and 26).  Hours will be announced for Monday, May 27, due to the special Park hours.

Volunteers will be at the radio room exhibit near the ocean view parking lot and in the Battery Ashburn bunker above the radio room.
Take a 70-year leap into our past and get a taste of history.

Special hours for the Park & Cabrillo Bookstore 

May 27, Monday - Memorial Day  

Cabrillo National Monument and the Cabrillo Bookstore will open from noon until 8:00 pm.

Superintendent Tom Workman has announced that special hours of operation will be in place on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013.  Traffic on Catalina Blvd at Navy Base Gate Post 2 and Cabrillo Memorial Drive south of the cemetery will be closed in the morning to all vehicles.

Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
